On ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ญ๐ด๐๐ต, ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฐ, WES TRADE will be hosting a workshop to celebrate the successful conclusion of the ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐ก๐ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ - an innovative fish farming research initiative that brings cutting-edge technology to Malta's Bluefin Tuna farms, co-financed by Xjenza Malta under R&I Excellence program 2023.

The MARINA Project developed an advanced machine learning algorithm to monitor and measure tuna fish biomass in real-time using underwater cameras. This breakthrough technology enhances farm efficiency, optimizes feeding strategies, and promotes sustainable aquaculture practices.
๐ฏ The project aims to refine machine learning algorithms, integrate real-time streams, and optimize practical implementation strategies to achieve more accurate and efficient monitoring of fish length and biomass. For achieving these results WES TRADE was supported by the company Apogee Evolution Ltd and the end user ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐๐ฑ, who offered real time environment on open sea cages where MARINA system was installed.

๐ The award is a high recognition to the big efforts spent by WES TRADE Team in the deep research to upgrade IRRIGOPTIMAL® with new innovative functionalities expanding the current water scarcity features to the prediction of diseases and pests through Artificial Intelligence models.

โ The first two installations were placed on a government Farm at ๐ ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐น๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ด๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐๐น๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐ป๐๐๐ถ๐๐๐๐ฒ (๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐) and the second instance at ๐ง๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ด๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป, ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ / ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ผ๐น๐ฒ๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฆ๐. ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฑ'๐ for the monitoring of yams and lettuce.

๐๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ธ ๐ฎ๐ฐ-๐ฎ๐ณ ๐๐๐ป๐ฒ a very busy week will see a number of events organised by Ms Lewis with ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐น๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐น๐ (where a program led by WES TRADE will be launched to teach 1. young students the basic principles and usage of digital agriculture and realisation of small observation projects run by students with the support of WES TRADE supervisors), 2. college, local Universities (activating collaboration on Living Lab and Research also with European counterparts), and 3. local farmers, NGOs and governmental entities.
๐ฌ Ms Simone Lewis stated that "I am thrilled to introduce ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐๐ข๐ฃ๐ง๐๐ ๐๐® in Grenada as a pilot project, making us the first country in the Americas to implement this groundbreaking technology. By optimizing irrigation practices through artificial intelligence, we can enhance agricultural productivity, conserve vital water resources, and build a resilient agricultural sector ready to face climate change challenges."
๐ฌ Daniele ROSA, co-founders of WES TRADE who attended this first step of a potentially fruitful and extensive collaboration with GWP-C also stated "We have found a very receptive environment in Grenada and mostly in Ms Simone Lewis and Mr Kerron Martinez, who have invested a lot of efforts in the realisation of this project. We are working hard to make this experience an example for all other Caribbean countries to tackle climate change challenges."
Last April the Sicilian Region asked the government to deal with with extraordinary powers and means the emergency situation arising following the serious water deficit crisis underway in the regional territory. The Italian Government has therefore decided on a national state of emergency for 12 months.
๐The Island, in fact, is affected by a long period of drought, caused both by the exceptional scarcity of of rainfall in the last autumn and winter seasons, both by the temperatures recorded more higher than average, which led, among other things, to a significant reduction in surface water outflows, as well as failure to recharge the aquifers.

๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ' ๐ด๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ก๐ข๐๐ has promptly put in place all possible resources to face the emergency by launching between l & rsquo; another is a pilot project aimed at monitoring and saving water through an innovative system of international standing called IRRIGOPTIMAL® which uses machine learning engines and artificial intelligence to reduce and optimize water consumption during irrigation and predict any situations of pathological stress on plants.
๐ฑExperimentation is started in May at some important local agricultural companies that made their land available for the experimentation. At the Arcoria farm near Paternò Monitoring is underway on two different crops (tomatoes and oranges) while monitoring of citrus groves is underway at the Ialuna Agricultural Company in Mineo.
